How to avoid most common travel mistakes

Some of the most well-planned and perfect vacations can really backfire into those common travel mistakes that people tend to overlook.  Here is a look into the details of the top five travel mistakes and how it can be avoided.  One of the classic mistakes is to stick to a path well tread.  So, if you are in a picturesque destination like Venice, then try to explore the alleys that lead away from the famous squares and see the real thing!

Ensure that there is enough time between flights

It is important to leave at least 1 ½ hours between your connecting flights, as it will reduce your chances of losing luggage or missing your flight.  Having less time between flights might be risky if the airport is large and the gates of the other flight are located far apart.

Apply for your passport well ahead of time

It usually takes anywhere between 4-6 weeks to get your passport processed. So, ensure that you apply for your passport simultaneously while making your vacations plans.  Remember that some countries need 6 months’ of validity for entering, so ensure that is also in place. Furthermore, if you are a frequent traveller, then make sure that you have enough black pages in your passport, as some countries refuse entry otherwise.

Do not assume the location of your hotel from the city centre

It is always better to spend a little extra for a hotel that is in the centre of the city when you are visiting.  This will prove to be more economical in the long run, as you would not have to dish out extra money on transportation.  Furthermore, if you are visiting Europe in the month of July, then having a hotel in the city centre would give you the option of escaping the summer heat quite easily as you can easily return to the hotel.

Do not cram too many activities in one trip

Ensure that you dedicate a comfortable period when visiting cities like Paris, Rome and London, as it will afford you the rich pleasures of experiencing the city life.  Slow down and try to invest time in exploring the city.

Plan a trip that centres on your likes and dislikes

It is important to be clear about what you like to do and what you want to do on the trips.  If you want to relax, then prepare an itinerary that will help you to do so.  It should clearly be your trip and your experience.

Summary:

If you adhere in the above guidelines, then you can be assured of a vacation that is devoid of those common travel errors.  Have a memorable trip without getting frazzled with lost luggage and a fast-paced sightseeing itinerary by immersing yourself with the real beauty of the place and cherishing it.
