There are many places of interests around the world that are inaccessible to common travelers for several reasons, which range from national security and preservation to the fact that it is haunted or holds religious significance. We talk to you about a few cool places that are worth visiting but inaccessible.

The Negev Nuclear Research Center, Israel

It was constructed with French assistance in 1958 in the Negev desert. The area is completely fenced off and the air space over it is closed to all aircrafts.

The Vatican Archives, Italy

It is located in the Vatican City and is a repository for all acts promulgated by the Holy See. Public can access most of the documents once they are granted special permission, however, documents which are not yet 75 years old can’t be accessed.

Lascaux Caves, France

It is a complex of caves famous for the Paleolithic cave paintings, which are estimated to be 17,300 years old. The entrance is barred due to fungal attack and only one guard goes in to inspect it about once a year.

It is a spy museum and houses spying technology and documents developed by Chinese government. It is open to Chinese nationals alone and closed to foreign tourists for fear of information leak.

Pine Gap, Australia

It is located in central Australia and is home to American and Australian satellite tracking station. It was built to cease the entry of spy ships in this location.

Metro 2, Russia

It is the code name for a secret metro system, which runs parallel to the Moscow Metro. It was started in the time of Joseph Stalin and was code-named D-6 by KGB.

Niihau, Hawaii

A remote island is inaccessible to all visitors to protect the natural habitat. Elizabeth Sinclair’s descendants privately own it and only her relatives and the inhabitants are allowed to visit the island.
