Kakadu national park is one of the most beautiful places in the world and give you an amazing experience at Kakadu National Park. It has many places that are protected. It is located in the northern territory of Australia within the Alligator Rivers region. It is in an area of 19804 km that extends to 200 kms from north to south and above 100 kms from east to west. One of the significantly productive uranium mines in the world is surrounded by division from the park called The Ranger Uranium Mine.

The national park includes four major river systems:

  • the East Alligator River,
  • the West Alligator River,
  • the Wildman River; and
  • the entire South Alligator River;

Six major landforms

  • estuaries and tidal flats,
  • floodplains,
  • lowlands,
  • the stone country,
  • the outliers; and
  • the southern hills and basins;

A remarkable variety and concentration of wildlife:

  • over 280 bird species
  • roughly 60 mammal species
  • over 50 freshwater species
  • over 10,000 insects species
  • over 1,600 plant species.

The people of Aboriginal origin have occupied the Kakadu area for at least 40,000 years. Kakadu National Park is famous for the affluence of its Aboriginal cultural sites. When the park has been placed in the UNESCO World Heritage list the Kakadu national park was recognized internationally.

The Aboriginal traditional people are the descendants of various tribes groups from the Kakadu area and have ancient association with this country. Their traditions and beliefs are unchanged while their lifestyle has changed in recent times. The Management of the Park is directed by the Kakadu Board of Management. The kakadu national park has been established when the community of Australia became much interested in announcing national parks for conservation and in identifying the land interests of Aboriginal people.

The climate in the Kakadu national park region is likely to be of monsoon and characterized by dry season and wet season as Kakadu is situated in the tropics, between 12° and 14° south of the Equator. This place can be visited more than once definitely as it changes its appearance with the change of season. It is known that the flora in the Kakadu region is the richest as it has the highest number of species in the world. It is also known as the most weed free parks in the world. As the areas in the Kakadu region are distinct the flora is also very diverse you can find varieties of plants.

Eucalyptus koolpinensis is only found in Kakadu region and the park is predominantly covered with eucalypt-dominated land which consists of a range of grasses including spear grass, sedges and wildflowers. As the environment of the kakadu national park is very diverse it supports a variety of animals in the region. Some of the animals are rare, dangerous and vulnerable and are found only in this park such as Black wallaroos, Antilopine kangaroo, Short-eared Rock-wallaby, plumed whistling ducks, Black-necked Stork, Brolga and magpie geese, saltwater crocodile and Australian darter.

You can find many mammals which cannot be seen in any other place in the world. The park has a number of species of birds of more than 280 such as Endangered Gouldian Finch, the vulnerable Red Goshawk, Chestnut-backed Button-quail, and Hooded Parrot and Rainbow Pitta.  The park has many places for camping and it is one of the most visited tourist attraction with the waterfalls, gorges etc. this tourist attraction certainly has a lot of incredible highs that can be captured. The tourists and the travelers who come to see it will find it worthy feel the amazing experience at Kakadu National Park.
