Toronto Zoo

Located in the city of Toronto in Canada, the Toronto Zoo was opened on August 15, 1974 as the Metropolitan Toronto Zoo. In 1998, the zoo was officially renamed the Toronto Zoo.

Encompassing 287 hectares, the Toronto Zoo is the largest zoo in Canada. The area is divided into seven geographic regions. Each region flaunts animals and plants from all over the world. The zoo is a home to over 5,000 animals representing over 450 species. The zoo focuses towards the conservation of endangered species from all over the world.

The zoo offers a rare opportunity for Toronto residents and visitors to gain a better understanding about the wild world. Visitors can enjoy scheduled feedings of animals, hands-on discovery areas, and special exhibits. In summers, visitors can enjoy in the Splash Island water play area where camel & pony rides are available. A number of events are held at the zoo, such as day programs and camps for all age groups.
