Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, Grenada

Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park is the world’s first underwater park that contains a contemporary collection of art and is located in the Caribbean Sea lying at west coast of Grenada. It was publically opened in 2006 and was created by British sculptor Jason deCaries Taylor with an aim to make local settlement aware of the underwater environment. Several figures made from cement were installed on the ocean floor that consist of a large range of human sculptures. The park consists of 65 sculptures that covers over 800 square meters of area and the total weight of these sculptures is about 15 tons.

The park features sculptures such as the Lost Correspondent, The Unstill Life and Vicissitudes. The Lost Correspondent was installed in 2006 that is at the depth of 25 feet and is a figure of a man sitting at the desk poised over a typewriter with table covered with newspaper dating back to 1970s. The unstill life is installed at the depth of 25 feet that consists of modern objects depicting life of an artist. Vicissitudes was installed in 2007 lying at the depth 14 feet, which includes ring of 26 sculptures of children and is one of the most outstanding works of the Taylor.
