McLaren is a beautiful wine region located in the South Australia. The region is known for its dry red wines, made from Mourvedre, Shiraz, and Grenache. Visitors can also enjoy the taste of white wines like Semillon, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon blanc.

Visitors can enjoy scheduled tours to wineries and vineyards. The region was the first in South Australia to plant vines and has vineyards. The first vineyard was established in 1838 and visitors can get an opportunity to visit the 176 years old vineyard.

They can also taste wines at the winery located near the vineyard. They can taste delicious and finest wines of the country such as Barbera, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Cinsaut, Viognier, and Vermentino. February to April is an idle time to visit the place as it is the time when the grapes are harvested.

The district has variety of soils, which contribute to the harvesting and growth of grapes. Dark cracking clays, terra rossa, rendzina, and soft sands are considered idle soils for the plantation of vineyards.
