Horton Plains National Park is located in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. This park is surrounded with montane grassland and cloud forest. Horton plains national park is a wonderful place where you can discover various varieties of plants and different species of animals and birds.
You can get there by hiring a car and can drive to the park from Nuwara Eliya. The drive lasts around 1 hr 30 minutes to get there. The management of the park offers different adventurous and exciting tours. You can also enjoy special guided tours and safaris and can explore the natural beauty of the place.
The temperature of the place remains almost same during entire year, which is between 13ᵒC – 27⁰C. The annual rainfall of the place is more than 2,000 mm, which makes it a perfect for various flora and fauna species.
The park is rich in biodiversity, which houses more than 20 species of mammals, around 10 species of reptiles, and 90 bird species. Visitors can get a chance to explore sambar deer, toque macaques, Sri Lankan Leopard, wild boars, and grizzled giant squirrel.
