Grand Etang National Park and Forest Reserve, Grenada

Grand Etang National Park and Forest Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary and rain forest lying in the interior of Grenada in the St. Andrews city. Grand Etang is the most popular area for trekking and hiking with varied elevations and terrains that maintain the ecosystem. The main attracting feature of the National Park is the Grand Etang, which covers 36-acre of area containing cobalt blue water filling the crater of an extinct volcano that is at the height of the 1,740 feet above the sea level.

The flora of the national park comprises of towering mahogany, giant gommier trees and various ferns, tropical flowers and various other indigenous plants. The vegetation that grows here provides shelter to the animals. The fauna includes lesser Antilleans tanager, purple-throated carib, Antillean euphonia and lesser Antilleans swift. Apart from this, plenty of lizards, frogs, mongoose and mona monkeys can be spotted. There are various local displays based on local vegetation and wildlife in the Informative Grand Etang Forest Center. The main hikes include the seven sisters falls hike, shoreline trail and Mount Qua Qua.
