Dja Faunal Reserve

Dja Faunal Reserve

Established in 1950, Dja Faunal reserve is an UNESCO labeled World Heritage Site.

Located over the area of around 5,260 kilometer square is one of the African largest rainforest. This well confined reserve mainly aims at protecting regions biodiversity. The reserve houses wide range of species of plants and animals.

There are over 1200 species of plants, 429 species of birds, 60 birds and 7 primate species in the reserve. Dja Faunal Reserve features over 100 species of mammals out of which are few endangered species such as western lowland gorilla, chimpanzee, mandrill, white collared mangabey and extinct species like African grey parrot, leopard and bongo.

Dja conservation service manages the Dja Faunal Reserve and Cameroon partners of international cooperation support the reserve through their projects. You can see various species of mammals in the reserve that includes greater white mosed guenon, mustached guenon, potto, black and white colobus monkeys and chimpanzee, buffalo, giant forest hog, buffalo, elephant and many others. Aprk alos features Grey necked Picathartes, the Rachel’s Malimbe, and the Forest Swallow that are amongst the globally threaten species of birds.

Dja Faunal Reserve is an exotic destination to explore diversity of species and natural wildlife of Cameroon.
