Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park

Nestled in the north-west of Botswana, all along the international border that separates Botswana from Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, the Chobe National Park is popular for its vast variety of wildlife. Covering an area around 10566 square kilometers, it is the second largest park in Botswana.

Every year the park attracts thousands of visitors, as it is one of the largest game concentrations in the country. The Chobe National Park is the most diverse national park in the country. It flaunts a wildlife sanctuary containing the largest elephant population in Africa both in number and in size. The elephants are most visible during the dry season when they congregate around the water sources, especially the Chobe River.

During the boat trip, you can see lion, leopard, crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes in the park. Boat operators tend to keep distance from hippos. You can further see other varieties of wildlife on land. The park has a distinct wet and dry season. Animals migrate during wet season from the permanent water sources in Africa and, therefore, are easier to view during the dry season. All the other animals can be seen in the park except Rhino, which have been driven to local extinction due to poaching.
