The exams are finally over and the time has come to take that much needed vacation break before you settle down with another year’s worth of books and assignments. But given the fact that you hardly had any way to save the money for the trip (with the exams and everything), where in the world would you be able to go on a tight budget, and still enjoy the holiday enough to bring back fond memories? Well, here are some places to help you out!

Vancouver in British Columbia

You would be amazed to know that the room rates in this very popular American city are as low as $9 per night! Meals are fairly priced here to, with several international cuisines available for affordable prices. And that’s not all! The city offers really profitableexchange rates for the Canadian currency.

Spend your days exploring the myriad sites within the city, including the Seawall Promenade and Gastown. Visit the Whistler Mountain for snow filled adventures (including trekking, hiking and skiing). And as the night draws near, hit the clubs located near Gastown for some jazz, salsa dancing, karaoke and drag shows.

Amsterdam in Netherlands

If you are traveling with a group, then the best place where you would get the best deals in accommodation and food would be Amsterdam in the Netherlands. You can get a pretty good deal on accommodation and dining in a hotel located right by the falls. Nearly every other tourist attraction is within walking distance, thereby cutting down transportation costs. If you love snow then the city of Montreal is the place to go if your holidays overlap with the winter season. This city in Quebec is really famous for its youth hostels and night clubs which would be more than happy to welcome anyone above 18 years of age (that’s the drinking age limit here). And you can get your share of history and tradition by visiting the myriad historical and cultural attractions scattered across the city. If that’s not exciting enough, hit the slopes on any one of the mountain ranges surrounding the city for some skiing or ice skating.

Greece is known for its magnificent beaches, and some really expensive beach resorts. But there are some places in the country that can offer you everything that a beach resort does, for nearly half the price or less!

Case in point: the island of Ios which is also called a ‘mecca’ for those who love to party nonstop. Hostel and room rates here start at $14 per night (you won’t be spending much time in them though).

Spend the days soaking up the warm rays of the sun on any one of the island’s spellbinding beaches. The island has its share of archeological sites on Skarkos Hill and in the capital city of Hora for history buffs.

And as night falls, get swept into the party atmosphere as the island’s numerous clubs, discos, bars and tavernas open for business. It would be the perfect opportunity to meet several other students from around the world who have come here for one common reason; partying!

Party the night away in these places, and should you get hungry, you can always choose to dine at the numerous eateries serving authentic Italian, Greek, Thai and Asian cuisines. The prices may vary from one restaurant to another. So it is always considered best to check the price ranges in a couple of restaurants before settling down in one for a meal.
