Alberta –British Columbia foothills forests are a temperate coniferous forests eco-region located in Canada. It consists of a mixture of subarctic forest and temperate forest species, bordering Canada’s taiga, and making this an ecotone region.

The forests cover the rolling foothills of Rocky Mountains in Alberta and the valleys lying in British Columbia. The temperature varies from -0.5 degree Celsius to Two degrees Celsius. The flora of the region is dominated with a mixture of Lodge pole Pine, Jack pine, white spruce, black spruce, balsam spruce and paper brich. The vegetation is marked with the mixed vegetation between Cordilleran and boreal vegetation.

The fauna comprises of largest herds of moose along with two subspecies of moose namely shoras moose and western moose. Other species of mammals found are snowshoe hare, reindeer, North American beaver, American black bear, grey wolf, eastern black bear of Canada, and muskrat. Bird species spotted in this area are the Ruffed Grouse, spruce grouse, sandhill cranes and New world warblers.

The northern part of this eco region consists of Chinchuaga hills that are home to two subspecies of cribou. One of these is the mountain subspecies and the other is woodland subspecies. The forests have been threatened by the human activities and are being protected by the reserve and parks.
