Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is located in the northwestern region of the country. This wetland knows for its migratory population of birds. The park covers an area of 130 hectare and in 2003, it was listed as an ASEAN heritage park.
The park was established under the bird conservation program. It shelters a huge population and wide variety of birds like migratory Siberian bird species. Various experts and management team members make it possible to preserve beautiful birds. Sungei national park houses a wide variety of flora and fauna. It includes fish species like archerfish, halfbeak, and mullet. Visitors can spot various bird species such as whimbrel, marsh sandpiper, common greenshank, and cinnamon bittern, amongst several others. The saltwater crocodiles also form an attraction of the island.
The park provides several nature education programs and hosts many guide programs for students and public. This national park also distributes education material, magazines, and volunteers various workshops to make people aware about environment. Visitors can participate and join different groups to know more about the culture of the place, environment, and wildlife. They can also pay certain amounts as charity to the park authority for the betterment and development of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.
