Have you ever thought of traveling to a desert as a part of a vacation? Well almost everyone thinks that desserts are not places that can be traveled to and there is no need to take such a lot of pain. But if you see the Namib Desert which is dry and parched has a golden light that shines in the morning with the sunlight you will change your opinion on it as these are the most superb Places to visit Sossusvlei & Deadvlei pan, Namibia . The dead camelthorn trees are illuminated which pointy the branches that are skeletal lightning the sky. Slowly as the days ends the light goes off from the branches and it reaches the surface which is drought- crazed white plane of Dead Vlei. Everything starts appearing to speed up when the sunlight fades away. The difference between the surface of Dead Vei that is parched and the red sand dunes that surround it is barren. There is no clarity on where one of it finishes and the other one starts. There are three vlei in the Sossusvlei National Park. Dead Vlei is smaller than the popular Sossusvlei.

Sossusvlei is a part of the great Namib Desert and due to the transport system for public is not very good most of the tourists prefer to take up a luxury camp that gives transport to the park. Near the park gate sesriem there are cheaper accommodations available.

As there will be problem while driving in the desert four wheels drive vehicles are provided 4 km from Sossusvlei. 2 wheel drivers should take car park situated along the track that is around 60 km from the gate of the park and then take a transport bus to the four wheel drive park. After this it is a hard 20 minute rising hike to dead Vlei.

Though there is complete drought and no water is found in the desert Sossusvlei has had flood in 1997 but Dead Vlei has never had water at all still these are places to visit Sossusvlei & Deadvlei pan in Namibia. You will find ostriches moving around and Oryx waiting for the heat of the day to cool so that they can move. Beetles can be frequently found in the erratic trails. They spend most of the time in the sand and wait for the water that sometimes sweeps from the sea that is far away from the Atlantic coast.

The sand dunes are most famous in the national park Big Daddy is the tallest sand dune in the Sossusvlei which is over 300 meters high. The sand dunes are red in color. You must try climbing at least one of the sand dunes. Don’t forget to carry plenty of water as it is very hot and tiring experience. The view from the top is fabulous and is inspiring. You must take in the skeletal coast when you are visiting Namibia, there is an isolated stretch of the Atlantic seaboard where there can be shipwrecks, bones of whales, and lions found on the beach.

Sossusvlei is accessible by road from the Namibian capital. Windhoek, or from Cape Town – a long drive across the South African border. There is accommodation which is close to the park entry at Sesriem which is limited; however you will find many magnificent camps and lodging places which are an hour away from the park. You can find the desert to be beautiful from the top of the dunes and you need to have plenty of water and cash for petrol.
