Nerds are those geeks who have intelligence but are physically awkward. The basic characteristic of such type of people are that they are indifferent to things and lack confidence. Here are some of the ways to deal with nerds.
No social isolation
Nerds can be present anywhere and everywhere. They may be at school, house or even in a bus. They are extremely intelligent and smart but are physically unfit. They may be too thin or obese. This does not mean that they are to be secluded from the society. They are human beings and so must be treated at par with other normal individuals. Socially isolating them will make their situation even worse and there might be no scope of any recovery henceforth. Instead they should be included in groups where they can keep their thoughts out. This will help them to move out of the shell they always stayed in. Hence, a nerd should not be socially isolated in any circumstances.
Do not ridicule them
These people are not objects of fun. The sentiments of these geek types of people must be secured. If this does not happen, then they turn out to be even more stereotypical type of nerd and behave like a mad person. Publically embarrassing a person suffering from such a syndrome should not be practiced. This will just make them more introvert in due course of time. So the best and foremost way to deal with them is not to ridicule them personally nor publicly.
Do not mistreat them
These intellectual people have a tendency to spend most of their time on computers and technical stuff. Their knowledge on these aspects is mind boggling. General people particularly envy their intelligence. Hence they end up mistreating these people. This is not a feasible way to tackle nerds. They need more attention and must be dealt with peace and harmony. Abusing them in public creates negativity in them and hence their mental status is distorted. They should be treated equally like other normal people.
Provide them a peaceful environment
What does peace mean for a nerd? It is nothing but encouraging them in some way or the other to continue with their intellectual act. One way to show concern is to provide them with a whole lot of comics which they are most interested in or sometimes let them use your computer and praise them for their intelligence. A packet of biscuit and a cup of energy enriched milk go well to further offer them peace. The best option is to let the nerds continue to be in their state and provide them with what they are most happy with. One must show interest in their activities which are particularly art, martial arts, music, etc.
Give them importance
It is observed that these people behave in such a way just to attract the attention of the lot. If the required attention and importance is given to them, then they might discontinue behaving like the stereotypical types of nerds. They do things which are unbelievable and grab the consideration of many individuals. In short, the typical nature of such people has evolved to seek the attention of the crowd by which they are surrounded.
Make them hear classical music
Nerds love to discover and understand the logic behind putting few things together. In the respect of classical music also they keep finding out the details of each musical piece ranging from themes and variations to trios and rondos. Similar to mathematical stuff, music is also an intellectual challenge for them. It is like understanding the theme and moods of a song and then reacting accordingly; just like solving a proof in maths or physics.
Overhauling them
One way to improve the situation of a nerd is to respect his thoughts and not to embarrass him in public. Supposing, if in a crowd this ânerdâ speaks out something which is not as it is said, then one must subtly modify his words and in turn this person will not feel awkward and embarrassed. As a human, one must not play with the emotion of such individuals and try to comprehend their requirements and needs.
