How to deal with lazy children

How to deal with lazy children

Laziness is caused by the fear of facing failures. Most children find it hard to accept failures as the next step for success. A little motivation can make lazy children active. You can easily deal with your lazy children by using the following tips.

Know the reason

When you notice your kid being lazy, find the reason for his/her laziness first. There may be natural reasons that might cause laziness in your child. If you find any symptoms of disorder, consult a medical practitioner immediately. Most children become lazy when they aren’t interested in their work. As parents, analyze your child’s reason for their lack of interest. Without knowing the proper reason for their laziness, you cannot guide your children to become active. There are several ways to find this reason. One of the best way is by observing your child’s activities from behind without alerting him/her.

Communicate

Communication is one of the most important keys for knowing more about your children. As most children open up their views explicitly, you could easily understand your child’s point of views. However, you must come forward to initiate conversation with your child to learn the causes for his/her problems and difficulties. Children may initially express fear to share information with their parents. Making a friendly conversation would avert their fear and allow them share their problems explicitly. Don’t hesitate to start the conversation with your children. Even if they are uncomfortable in sharing their problems with you, assure them that you support them always. Obviously, it will make them comfortable and let them open up their views with you.

Encourage

Encourage your child. Your kid might be interested in something that you don’t like. Still, you must find ways to encourage your children in their interests. Never make a serious mistake by discouraging them when they involve in doing things that might totally depress you and your feelings. Build a friendly relationship with your children and let them understand their life through their own experiences. Give them a hug or a small gift when they achieve something with their talents and skills. This will make them improve further and become active.

Try to find their hobbies

Any form of physical activity like running, swimming, jogging, sports, yoga, etc., can make your child active. Try to find out his/her interest. Some children may like swimming but hate running completely, while some others might love playing baseball than football. Find your child’s true interest and encourage them in that particular game. Make them join a sports club to undertake practice regularly. If you find time, play your kid’s favorite game with him/her. Encourage them to play matches and participate in competitions. It will help them learn the necessity of team-work and co-ordination.

Nurture hobby

If your children don’t show enough interests in sports, don’t worry. Try to find their interests in other activities like music, acting, singing, dancing, writing, photography, stamp collecting, etc., which might become their hobby. Once they find their true interests, they will keep themselves active without your motivation. Don’t force your children to do something that doesn’t interest them. Give sufficient freedom to your children and make them understand their responsibilities too. Later, their hobby might become their profession as well.

Observe your child

Whatever your children do, keep observing their activities and behavior. When you can’t follow their actions, you cannot judge the reasons for their laziness. Nurture creativity in their thoughts and actions. Watch them make mistakes and let them learn from their own experiences. Make them accept failures as gateways to success. Reward them once in a while for achieving their targets. Set goals for your kids and encourage them to achieve success. Observe them, but don’t follow them everywhere.

Don’t compare

Every child is unique and different from each other. Never compare your child with some other kids. Don’t assess your child’s behavior with common terms of the society like marks, ranks, assignments, etc. When you compare your children with someone else, obviously he/she will be different, and might possess higher or lower abilities than the other. Don’t judge your child’s capacity with such comparisons, especially with marks and grades. Always boost them in their own interests. Definitely, you won’t regret it when they make wonders in the future.
