What’s done is done. There’s only one thing that you can do about it. By acting in the present, you can try your best to diminish the negative consequences of your past actions. However, no matter how much you might want to do it, but you can’t go to your past and change the actions. All our actions tend to leave a residue behind them, it could be the residue of fear, anxiety, and regret, or it could also be the residue of pride, ego, and overconfidence. While we can’t change our actions, we can surely change the outcomes or the emotions that these actions have developed in us.
