How to deal with interviews

Facing interviews might be quite stressful for some candidates. If you learn certain techniques and manners, you can nail down any kind of interview easily. Use the following methods to achieve success in your interviews.

Research about the company

As you might be aware of the company for which you are about to appear for an interview, do research on the company’s background, mission and vision statements, goals, objectives, policies, rewards, recruitment process etc. You can easily find such information from the company’s brochure or through their website. Spend sufficient time to read their website completely and understand how they make their businesses. You must also try to know about their clients, management activities, company’s locations, working hours, trainings offered, compensation and benefits etc. In case you can’t find the necessary details in their website, don’t hesitate to ask your queries to their HR executive. You may also send an email asking these details, if you have sufficient time. Make sure that you know the company’s major details before you appear for the interview.

Prepare for the interview

Preparing for the interview is one of the most essential parts that one must do before attending any interview. Most of the interviewers start with the basic questions that will let them know about yourselves, your background and education details. You can easily prepare answers for these questions. Don’t try to memorize anything, but list down the important points that you would like to mention for these questions. Be prepared to answer queries regarding your academic project, internships, work experiences, goals, targets, aim in life etc. Almost at the end of the interview, you might be given a chance to shoot out your questions and doubts. Prepare a few witty as well as logical questions to ask your interviewer. Make sure that your questions are relevant to their organization and their domain. You may start preparing for your interview before a week, or at least before a day.

Groom well

As everybody say, you must impress your interviewer at the first moment itself. You can make this impression by grooming yourselves in clean, tidy and formal clothes. Don’t wear attractive clothes for your interview. Remember to use hot iron for your clothes before you wear them. It will give a formal look as well as a bold appearance. Don’t hesitate to wear a tie that matches with your formal clothes. You must be careful in choosing the color of your tie as well. Tuck in your shirts and wear a belt around your waist. Wear formal shoes and polish them with little oil to bring that extra shine. If you are wearing a full sleeved shirt, use the cuff buttons to cover your hands properly. Comb your hair rightly that brings you a smart appearance. Above all, greet the interviewers with a charming smile. It is believed that a smile can make a big difference in interviews.

Be confident

Confidence is one of the most important qualities that your interviewer will expect from you. Be bold and confident when you answer their questions. However, you must be very careful to avoid being over confident. There is only a thin gap between being confident and being over-confident. Don’t use any sort of colloquial language when you speak with your interviewer. By using such slang, you may sound cool, but it is not the right way to speak to someone who is interviewing you for a job. Expose your leadership skills during group discussion rounds and create chances for the other candidates to speak as well. You must also use your listening skills rightly to communicate with other candidates during the group discussions. Don’t be argumentative, but try to express your views clearly and boldly. Don’t bend with anybody’s suggestion or points. State your own points and stick with them throughout the test.

Think positive

Whatever you express in your interview, speak them from a positive point of view. This quality will impress your interviewer further. Speak with an optimum sound and clear accent. If you are unsure about some of their questions, be true to your interviewer by agreeing that you are unaware about that particular topic. However, make sure that you don’t agree with all of their suggestions and tricky questions. Think positively at all times. Even if you fail to clear your interview, don’t feel bad. Take it as a learning experience and proceed further with the other offers. Nobody is born an expert. People learn to become an expert. With sufficient efforts and practice, you can become an expert in passing interviews successfully. Thinking positively will definitely bring you enough confidence and strength to nail any sort of interview.
