How to deal with indecisive people

People who are unable to take right decisions at right moments can just drive you mad. The feeling of insecurity and fear in their mind can mar all your team spirit and finally you would wish to get rid of their long faces with shy and scary looks. With a lot of patience, you can motivate them to regain their lost spirit and this metamorphosis can be possible with a few diplomatic ways.

Talk to them straight

Ask them to sit in front of you without any fear and discuss the problem in a lighter vein. Let them know that they have a lot of potential within themselves and must not hesitate to take a chance. They must not be doubtful about their decisions and avail the opportunity which is knocking at their door. If they prolong, procrastinate and hesitate, they can be losers throughout their lives. Just ask them to think logically and know the pros and cons about the problem and take decisions quickly.

Don’t be sarcastic

Those who are indecisive are already scary about the consequences of the decision they are going to take. So you have to handle them very delicately as they are already apprehensive about their potentiality. If you are sarcastic about their performance and tell them that your company is never going to indulge in their indecisive steps, the problem would be more serious and they would find themselves in a more stringent situation. So be positive and boost up their confidence.

Ask them to write about their apprehensions

People who are unable to decide and are in a dilemma all the time about the risks the project holds for them must be asked to write in points about the apprehensions related to their decisions. They can also give an objective answer to the questions which arouse in their minds. For example, your company needs to hire some local people who you know are mostly lethargic. But this is important because they can communicate with the local people more efficiently. The person who has to recruit them is in a dilemma. So it is your responsibility to build up his confidence and throw light on the positive side of the recruitment of the locals. If you ask him to write in black and white, he would find it easier to decide and act. And you must be firm that after deciding he must stick to his decision. This is the vital deal which you should have with him and his response can be mind-boggling.
