Well these spells are nothing but extension of unconsciousness due to many reasons. At this moment of time, you go in a “black out” mode or temporary loss of consciousness. Nothing to worry about these spells, they do not last longer and not seriously associated with any of the medical problems, unless or until any injury takes place in the episode.

Understanding the causes of fainting spells

Vasovagal syncope

This type of spell mostly occurs in healthy person. The body goes in an unconsciousness state, when the brain sends signal from nervous system to legs that start stretching or widening. This causes the blood to splash in the lower extremities. After pooling the blood pressure at a higher rate, it drops down to a significant value causing a brief loss of consciousness.

Decrease in blood sugar and volume

Spells can be brought by various prompters like fear, dizziness, stress, pain, perspiration or coughing. But, low blood sugar is one of the most dangerous causes of fainting spell. If not solved at time then this cause could prove itself life-threatening.  Diabetics who are taking insulin must be very careful while fighting with these spells. You must carry a sugar supplement in order to increase the sugar level and nourish your brain to come in a state of consciousness.

Orthostatic hypotension

In this cause fainting is experienced at the time of standing and sitting from a comfortable position. It occurs when your legs are not able to supply back blood properly to heart. Dehydration can make this case worse.

Medications

Using extensive medications in higher doses can cause fainting spell. You must eat the prescribed medicines.
