“Why do you want to know that?” David’s mother asked.
“Just like that,” David replied.
“Birds can fly since they have wings,” his mother said,
“All right, birds can fly since they have wings. Why can’t they walk, they have legs too,” David asked his mother.
“ Oh my goodness, sometimes it is so difficult to make you understand,” the mother said as she went inside the kitchen.
Like all other kids, David was always curious to know everything. He would ask questions that were difficult for his parents to answer. They always made up a story but David was such a smart kid that he always got to know that.
On day when his father had invited a few colleagues over dinner, he introduced David and asked him to be there with them in the living room. David was there in the corridor when they had arrived and he had noticed that one of them was very tall and the other one was terribly short at height. Now, he was sitting there talking to them.
“Why don’t we talk about something?” the taller one said.
“Sure, why are you so tall,” David asked.
“I am tall since my parents are taller,” he said.
“That means if your parent were short you would also be short at height, but why is that so?” David asked.
“It depends upon your genes,” the taller person replied.
“All right, but I have another question for you,” David said. The other person who was short at height was preparing himself mentally to answer the questions. He took a sigh of relief when David’s father called him inside the kitchen.
“What is it, dad?” David asked.
“I hope you didn’t ask them one of your silly questions, did you?” his father asked him. “Oh my goodness, I juts forgot to tell you that. They are here to discuss a business plan so you should spare them,” his father explained.
Few days later, when David went for walk with his dad he asked him, “Dad I have an interesting question for you?”
His father knew that he would have to answer his question eventually as he has gone through the same situation a thousand times before. He took a deep breath and said, “Shoot.”
“Dad, I believe you know that babies come from a mommy’s tummy,” David asked.
His father had a good look at him and said,” I believe so.”
“But how do they get in there?” David asked innocently.
His father didn’t know what to tell a four year old. Moreover, he could not make an excuse and sneak into the kitchen to take his mother’s help. He thought for a moment and said, “All right, now that is really an interesting question, I must say.”
He had hardly finished his sentence when David started staring at him and said, “Dad please don’t make up a story, It is all right if you don’t know the answer. Our science teacher is really an intelligent girl. I will ask her.”
Father didn’t have anything to say after having this conversation.
Kids are curious to know everything. Sometimes they ask you strange things that simply blow your mind.
