Those who we love never go away

Those who we love never go away

Once, there was a little boy whose name was Andre.  He was three year old. Besides his mother and father in his family, he had a cute dog Scooby who was his best friend. Andrew could live without food for the whole day but not without playing with Scooby. Andrew had a few friends in the neighborhood but nobody was like Scooby. Right from the moment Andrew used to get Scooby used to be around him wiggling its tail. Andrew usually skipped family picnic if it did not include Scooby.

Little boy with doggy friend waiting together near the window“I love you more than anyone else in the world,” Andrew said once giving a peck to his dog.

“Can I take him to my school? I mean he also needs to study, doesn’t he,” he asked his mother.

“No, no school for Scooby. He can’t be there in your school. You will have to go to school from next year onwards. So we have enough time to discuss these things,” mother replied.

“But I want Scooby to sit with me in the classroom so that we can share our lunch.”

“All right, I will see what I can do. You go and brush your teeth. I am coming right after you,” the mother said.

Andrew could not imagine to live a single day without his best friend Scooby. He never thought of making new friends, as he never needed anyone else besides Scooby.

One day when Andrew came out of his bed, he found Scooby sleeping quietly. He went to the kitchen where his mother was making breakfast for everyone.

“Good morning, my little prince. Where is your friend,” she asked.

“Good morning, He is sleeping. It would be difficult for him to get ready for school. He sleeps a lot and school opens up early,” Andrew said, as he wanted Scooby to go to school with him.

After one hour, Andrew went to his room to check up on Scooby and came back to his mother.

“Where is Scooby now,” she asked.

“Sleeping,” Andrew, said.

“He wakes up early in the morning. I mean Is he all right. Come with me,” she gave a nod to her son who was coming anyway.

Scooby was lying flat on the floor. He didn’t even move a bit. He never behaved like this before.

Andrew’s mother took him to the next room. She asked him to wait there and came back running.

She knew the moment she entered he room that the dog was dead. She did not have the nerve to give the news to Andrew who loved his dog dearly but she had to as his father was out of town for two days.  However, she pulled herself together, gathered the strength and told him.

who-we-love-never-go-awayThe boy cried his eyes out. It was difficult for him to live without his best friend. He had never thought that something like that would ever happen. A few days later Andrew asked his mother, “Is there no way we can bring him back?”

“Look son, I will not ask you to forget him. Scooby is and will always be your best friend. He has not gone anywhere else. He is right here with us. It is just that we cannot see him. Every time you cry, he feels bad. You don’t want him to feel bad, do you?” she said.

The boy was looking at his mother without uttering up a word.

Those who we love never go away“Those who we love never leave us. They are always there looking at us. They want us to smile and move on in life. Keep your friend in your memories and pray for him. God will take care of him. He will feed him and play with him. You should be happy that you gave him so much love and spent quality time together. You have a so much to tell your friends about your best friend Scooby, don’t you?“

The words of his mother helped Andrew understand that life has good and nasty surprises for all. You must live life to the fullest since you never know what destiny has got in store for you.
