An elderly couple who was in their sixties went to a lawyer seeking a divorce. The lawyer got a little confused and asked, “How come you didn’t try to take a divorce all your life?”
The wife gave a dirty look to the husband and said, “We had three kids who needed us so we somehow managed all these years. However, now our kids are grown up and married. They have their own families and kids who can take care of them. We thought we should try and live our own lives since it is really getting on our nerves now.”
The husband just nodded his head and said, “Yes, it is something like that. You can help us.”
The lawyer was in no mood to get them divorced since they made a beautiful couple. He ordered coffee for all and said, “You must give it a serious thought. I believe you have spent all these years together for the sake of your kids as you have told me but you must think again. Come again tomorrow and we finalize everything.”
The old woman at once interrupted him and said, “Oh my goodness are you a lawyer or a matchmaker. We have already told you that we need a divorce, so why don’t you just go ahead with the formalities.”
The moment old fellow was about to take a sip of coffee his wife gave him a nod to not to take the coffee and said, “You are a sugar patient. How many times do I need to tell you that? I will not be there to remind you again.”
The lawyer took their signature on the legal papers but he still had a hope that thing were going to be all right.
The couple finished their coffee, said final goodbye to each other and started living separately. A few days later, the husband realized that he actually needed the support of his wife at each step of his life. He dialed his wife’s number to apologize and to ask her to get back together. His wife on the other hand knew the he would call. She picked the phone when it rang the first time.
“How is it going?” the husband asked.
“I am all right. How are you doing?” the wife replied.
“I am fine. I wonder when you are going to come back since I forgot to tell you something,” the husband said.
“What is it that you didn’t tell me in all these years,” the wife asked.
“I omit telling you that I feel incomplete without you and it’s hard to live,” the husband replied.
He had tears in his eyes when he said that and he could hear his wife sobbing on the other side of the phone. They talked for hours that day.
The following day wife received a call that her husband died last night.
You must not hesitate to give words to your feelings. Tell your loved ones that you love them and value each moment spent with them.
