It is story of two best friends who had nothing in common. Jim was honest and hardworking. He always stood first in his class. On the contrary, his friend Jack was an average student. His dad was a rich a businessperson who provided him all the luxuries of modern world. Jim used to motivate his friend to study hard but Jack always said that his luck was always on his side so he did not need to do so.
When they grew up, both went to the same college though Jack was not serious about his studies but Jim always helped him. Jim was happy that he had best friend studying with him.
Time went by and both passed their college with good grades. Jim tried to get a job. He gave many interviews but no one was ready to hire a fresher with no experience. He was sad and disappointed in himself. He had worked hard all his life but luck never favored him. Even those employers who really appreciated him in the interview never gave him a chance to work in their organizations.
Jack’s father wanted him to work so that he could be on his own and get settle down. Jim arranged an interview for him in the same organization where he was going for an interview. Quite surprisingly, both of them got selected.
Even in office, the manger would always appreciate Jack for his performance though the reality was something different. Every day after the office timings both friends would sit in a cafeteria and discuss their work related troubles. Jim was a good problem solver. He would suggest solutions to Jack who proudly propose them to the manager and would get appreciated. Jim knew all this but he never had a problem since he was happy to see his friend making progress in life. He even helped his friend’s with his project that got him promoted.
A year later, Jim fell in love with a girl who had just joined a few days back. He was so shy that he could never ask her out. Jim did not tell anyone about her, not even to his best friend as he thought he would make fun of him. Jack asked him many times when he found him in a thoughtful mood but Jim never told him anything. One day Jim gathered the strength to talk to that girl. He thought he could use the help of his best friend Jack. The moment he stepped into his cabin, he got surprised as he saw the same girl with Jack. He was speechless. Jack looked at him and said, “Here comes my best friend Jim and Jim meet the love of my life. I always wanted to tell you but time was never good.”
Jim gave them a plastic smile and left the room after a while. His heart was broken.
However, Jim decided to move on in his life but he never knew that something else was waiting for him. A few weeks later, the manager called all the employees into his cabin to announce the name of the employee of the year. Jim had worked hard and was expecting to hear his name. He was stunned when the manger announced the name of his friend Jack to receive the employee of the year award. Jack also got promoted and got transferred to their another branch as a manager. Jim’s hard work had worked wonders for his friend but he could not figure out why it never worked for him. Luck was truly on Jack’s side and today Jim knew that.
It’s a true that those who never keep themselves on top of their priority list may have to get disappointed in the end as universe has strange ways to teach you a lesson.
