Loving your life partner until your last breath and even after that

George and Helena got married on Valentine’s Day. It was hard for them to convince their parents and finally when they agreed George made a promise to himself that he would celebrate the day his own way. He made it a routine to give beautiful red roses to his beautiful wife who had put everything at stake to get married to him. Years went by. They had three kids who grew up, got educated and got settled down. No one was there to live with them since their kids had their own priorities. George and Helena were happy to be together; after all, they had spent thirty years loving each other. Seasons changed, governments changed but something that never changed a bit was their love for each other.

Every year on Valentine’s Day George would gift her beautiful bouquet of red roses along with a greeting card, which said, “I love you even more as you are the love of my life.”

When George was on his deathbed, Helena could not keep herself from crying, as she knew he would leave her. Fortunately or unfortunately, George passed away a few days before Valentine’s Day. Helena cried her eyes out on Valentine’s Day, as it was difficult for her to forget George.

To her surprise, she received a bouquet of red roses on Valentine’s Day. George was a wise man. He was always particular about things that have to do with Helena. He had ordered a bouquet of flowers for her in advance. Helena had a big smile on her face when she read the card and tears rolled down from her eyes.

Helena was living day by day, as she had nothing left in her life ever since she had lost her husband. A year later, on Valentine’s Day, Helena again received a bouquet. “It is impossible,” she said to herself. When nothing made a sense, she called the floweriest and asked him about the bouquet.

“Your husband had come here last year before his demise. He asked me to send you a bouquet of beautiful red roses every year even after his death. He paid in advance and even left a card for this year’s Valentine’s Day,” the floweriest explained.

As soon as Helena got off the phone, she took out the card from the bouquet and read it. It said, “Dear Helena, I know I won’t be around to wish you a happy Valentine’s Day but that sure would not change the way I feel for you. I love you with my heart and soul. I knew you would be a perfect wife for me ever since the day I had met you the first time. I have asked the floweriest to make sure you get a beautiful bouquet of flowers for years to come. Don’t worry, the day when you would not answer the doorbell, he would send the flowers to the place where you and I would be together again. You are the love of my life and I will love you until eternity.”

Tears rolled over Helena’s cheeks as she got a flashback of every special moment spent with George. From then she always waited for the next Valentine so that she could get the bouquet sent by her loving husband.

Truly said love knows no boundaries. Those who truly love you are always there with you and  you can always feel their presence around you.
