Michael and Veronica already had a five-year-old son whose name was Peter when they decided to have another kid. Doctors had told them not to take a risk since Veronica had faced many complications during the birth of her first child. Michael reminded her many times when Veronica first discussed with him but she had already made up her mind. It was a hard decision on their part but they took their chances. Michael wanted to consult the doctor one more time but Veronica denied.
The day when the couple broke the news to their son Peter, he was already in a bad mood since he wanted someone to play with him. The moment he heard that soon his mother would give birth to a baby he at once said, “I want a sister to play with me.” Michael was worried about the Veronica’s health since he knew it would not be a normal pregnancy.
Finally, the day came when Veronica gave birth to a beautiful daughter but as they had expected there was an emergency cesarean. She had given birth to a premature baby who was twelve inches long, weighing only one pound and ten ounces.
Michael and Veronica already knew what could go wrong but when the doctor told them about the possibilities, they had tears rolling down their eyes. The doctor made it clear that it would be hard for the newborn to survive and if she made it, her life would be completely different from a normal child. The doctor wanted them to be mentally prepared. He explained, “There are only ten to fifteen percent chances that she will survive and even if she survives, she could be blind or mentally or physically challenged. You must not expect her to be a normal child.” Veronica knew she had taken a risk but she didn’t know that their daughter would have to pay the price for it.
Peter was at home with his grandmother waiting for his sister to come home. Veronica and Michael did not have an idea what to tell him.
The moment doctor left Michael gathered the strength, took a sigh and said, “It seems to me that we need to make all the preparation of the funeral.”
“No, she will come home with us,” Veronica sad at once as she was trying hard to keep herself from crying. However, eventually Veronica burst into tears as she could not deny the fact.
The couple spent the next twelve hours staring at their newborn. They wanted her to live at any cost but at times, you just feel utterly helpless. The baby was so weak that they could not even hold her close to them. Veronica took a nap with all the uncertainties and doubts on her mind but Michael was awake all night long.
As days went by their faith in the almighty god grew even stronger. Peter prayed to god every single day to keep his sister healthy as his parents told him that she was not well.
Michael gave their daughter a beautiful name “Angela”. Years later, Angela grew into a beautiful girl who was a normal kid. Michael and Veronica had witnessed a miracle as they had seen their daughter living a perfectly healthy life day in day out.
Sometimes you must rely upon your destiny and have full faith in ways of universe. He certainly has remarkable ways to keep your faith alive.
