Tips to deal with bad drivers on the streets

You go to any part of the world and you’ll see an equal share of good and bad drivers. Witnessing bad driving, especially when you are in a hurry, can leave a mark on your memory. Be it a rash driver, a driver who cuts off without warning, who won’t let you pass after repeated honking or the red light rule breakers who are in an insane hurry, the list is aplenty.

Here is a list of ten ways to deal with it:

Stay Calm: Keeping the mind cool and steady is a wise move of all time. If someone overtakes you, pressing the horn repeatedly and trying to shove the car out of the way can cause an accident and a huge loss of money. So maintain peace.

Give them space: When a guy is talking and driving or zigzagging carelessly around the road, there is one thing to do. Stay away! Let the driver pay for his/her own carelessness, without ramifications to you.

Wait out left lane hogs: This can be extremely irritating when the law does not let you overtake through the right lane. An advice for such an unfortunate, yet common case, is to move slightly to the right but do not overtake. Let the preceding driver see you in his mirror so that he gets the hint you want to pass. A flashing and honking free technique is the one that actually works. Try it next time.

Flash, flash, back off, wait, pass on the right: When the above method seems not to work, try the polite technique. Give a flash of your car signals two times, pause and quickly cut across.

Windshield washer attack for tailgaters: There are cars that seem to be stuck to you making you uncomfortable. Put the windshield washer on and speed up. It is advisable not to try this on the highways.

Honk at red light runners: Traffic rule breakers will always be there. Most of the times they are daydreaming or they do not realize the consequences, so honk to snap them. It can save his life and money.

Work out after your commute: To burn the excess energy, hit the fitness centre or go for a quick jog. Racing with your car and ending up with an accident is a stupid idea.

Avoid the highway: This is important as trucks and lorries move at blazing speeds on the highways. Try to avoid the highway completely, even if it takes more time, and take the smaller service roads. Better late than never. Right?

“Positive Criticism”: Be sarcastically optimist, not a pessimist. You see a bad driver; do not get into verbal abuse or unpleasant gestures. Give them thumbs up and a flashing smile. The driver will get your mocking, albeit a little later likely. Saves your energy and time!

Assume everyone else is out to get you: A prepared frame of mind helps. Keep in mind that any of the drivers can end up spoiling your day, so psyche yourself up to tackle that.

This won’t make the drivers better, but will make your experience of driving a lot more convenient and easier.
