How to deal with sarcasm

Sarcasm is a type of criticism which can amend your follies or can make you aggressive as you are hurt by the sarcastic comments. However, it is easier to criticize than to be correct. So if you think about it logically, you can overcome your shortcomings or find better ways to deal with sarcasm.

Laughter is the best medicine

If somebody tries to put you down by funny remarks, just don’t get angry and laugh because laughter can ease out all the serious issues and you would feel lighter to join the conversation once more. Don’t take it by heart and try to ignore the issue on which the person has passed the comments. Sometimes people enjoy talking nonsense about others. Just smile and try to avoid them because they can be wrong or they are unable to assess your potential about which they have passed their comments. Just find out if he has really wished to hurt you or has focused on your weaknesses. You must feel obliged if he has tried to improve you and it is the other way round if he has tried to show you mean. Never get closer to him and ignore him with a synthetic smile on your lips.

Respond with witty remarks

Those who love to pass remarks which can make or mar you can be paid back in the same coin. Find out the issues which can be delicate for them to tackle. Respond them with a fitting remark so that they can realize that you have the potential to digest whatever has been told to you and can retort also with a happy gesture. Sometimes people enjoy the comments from the person whom they have made the victim. They expect witty remarks from the other side. For example, you are late as usual and one of your friends comments that your watch is not a branded one as it makes you late every time. You can reply that the brands are made after you; you are not following the brands. This can elevate you from the status of ridicule.

Face it and amend

You must not feel dejected and ridiculed if someone points out at your weaknesses. Be brave to give him or her a hug as the person has become a good Samaritan for you to let you know your shortcomings. If you have indulged in a few extra calories and have become a laughing stock for your friends with your bulging belly, you must have to sweat off more than usual. Obesity is the root of all the diseases and if you are ridiculed for it, you can take it as a boon in guise. However, if the sarcasm crosses the boundaries of acceptability and deals with caste, creed or color, you must be brave enough to stop the discussion or change the topic.
