Keep your Mind Open and have an Appetite of Knowledge

Keep your Mind Open

Open to Learning

“Knowledge has to be improved; challenged and increased constantly else it vanishes” is a popular quote by Peter Drucker. One has to be extremely humble in order to get the meaning of this quote. It has been often said that the only thing that is constant is change, but is it? Yes, it is. Similarly, knowledge cannot be constant either. It keeps on changing as per time and age. Once upon a time, it was common knowledge that the earth is a flat place. However, if someone believed so today, he or she will only be mocked at. Thus, like everything else knowledge keeps on changing. Therefore one has to remember this and always be open to learning. For, if a few people didn’t believe that earth is round when Socrates said so, this knowledge would vanish and the human civilization would still live under the impression that the earth is a flat place. There never would be an attempt to know the solar system; neither would the human race develop to such an extent. Hence, one has to be open to learning at all points in life and be ever ready to grasp in new knowledge. Just like Socrates, someone might be bringing you a surprise!

What Knowledge does to Life?

Life will teach you many lessons. Learn them as you go along. Add them to your knowledge base. Keep on expanding your horizon for knowledge. You never know what will be required and when. Therefore, keep your eyes and ears open. More importantly, keep your mind open. Each and every person that you meet along the way is going to confer some knowledge or the other upon you. Grasp all this knowledge as much as you can. It will only be helpful to you in the future. There is never an age to begin or stop learning. One keeps on learning through the course of life and thereby, keeps on increasing their knowledge. Irrespective of, if you are meeting a toddler, an adult or anyone else, you are going to earn from them. Thus, keep on improvising and increasing your knowledge base throughout the life. For, life is all about learning and learning as much as you can. Knowledge adds colour to an otherwise drab, dull and boring life. Remember how life was before the internet, came into play? Or when there wasn’t a TV? Wasn’t life a fairly dull place back then? With so many things that add to our knowledge, it is wonderful to live in an age like this, isn’t it?

Go Beyond your Limits

Beyond the Limit

Knowledge can do a million things to you. It can mould your entire persona into an altogether different person. It can change you in many ways. It can also change the way people think of you. In fact, you yourself feel more comfortable and confident of your own image with the weapon of knowledge. No doubt then, the weapon of knowledge is a fairly strong one and you can pull out this sword of knowledge any time you like without causing any violence. Knowledge will never let you down. It will earn you respect in society. It will improvise the way you perceive and see things. Hence, it is always great to possess knowledge. Yet, it is even greater to have an appetite for more knowledge because this is what helps you grow as an individual. Knowledge also defines your role in society and exactly how much are you capable of contributing to society. Thus, what image you cast on society entirely depends upon you. Obviously, if you posses knowledge you come across as a better person than if you don’t. Thus, you see knowledge is a very important thing and stagnant knowledge will not help you reach anywhere. Keep challenging your limits, time and again when it comes to knowledge.

Listen In and Keenly Too!

89706573There will be people you will meet who shall possess much more knowledge than you do. Indulge into a conversation with these people and make the most of it. They are bound to add to what you already know. You ought to network with these people, so that you keep on gaining more knowledge on a constant basis. It isn’t always necessary that you shall be the know-it-all. There are times when the other person knows a lot more than you. Give a patient ear to them. Let them know that you are listening. At the same time, listen keenly and lap up all the possible knowledge that you can. Gaining and keeping knowledge is fairly easy. It doesn’t require any amount of hard-work. Moreover, you need not compartmentalise this mental knowledge. Your brain does it on its own and dishes out the requisite item and the requisite time. You only have to listen to things and make a mental not of them. And you are good to go.
