How to deal with acne

Acne is a very common skin condition which affects people of all ages especially the teens. Hormonal variations, oily food, stress filled life, bacterial infections etc are some of the major causes of acne. Read on to find some of the best solutions which help you to deal with acne.

Wash your face

The easiest way to prevent acne is as simple as to wash the face only twice a day. If you wash more frequently it can lead to more irritation which should be avoided. Also make sure you do not scrub your face as you would want to be as gentle as possible with your skin. Face should be then pat dried and not rubbed. Rubbing increases the irritation and the resultant breakouts that might happen. You should also make sure you wash your hands always before washing your face.

Keep your hands away

Never pop it. Not only does it worsen the condition but also increase the swelling and redness. Even though it may seem that popping the pimple makes it less noticeable, the fact remains that the bacteria is further pushed into the skin and stays there for a longer period of time. The bacteria can also spread with frequent touching and also irritate the skin which is already inflamed. Avoid the use of extractors and zit popping devices as they aren’t safer as they advertise. Scars can also be the end result of such popping and that may last forever on the skin.

Live healthy

One of the main causes of pimples is an unhealthy diet. Avoid having oily and fatty foods as they increase the amount of free fatty acid in blood circulation. This in turn increases the secretion of sebum resulting into an oily face. Increased intake of fruits and vegetables are known to have a positive effect on reducing pimples. Drinking eight to ten glasses of water also helps in pimple control. Increase the intake of vitamin A and beta-carotene which is highly found in carrots, spinach, apricots etc will help you boost your skin health. Exercising regularly increases blood circulation and reduces stress helps your body and skin. Make sure to avoid clothing or equipment that increases irritation by rubbing on the skin. Excessive sweating that might be caused due to helmets and hats should also be avoided. Bathing right after an exercise also keeps your skin healthy and free of sweat and oil.

Skin care

Take care of your skin by taking measures that reduce the amount of dirt and oily accumulating on it. Chemicals and oils that you put on your hair also has a hand in aggravating the condition as they drip on to our face and block the pores causing irritation. Keeping your hair away from your face avoids the dirt and oil buildup on your skin. Protect your skin from the sun as tan can only aggravate the condition. Sun’s ultraviolet rays increase the swelling and redness caused by acne. It is always good to apply a sunscreen which is non-acnegenic to prevent the formation of acnes. Cleaning your glasses every time you put them on can also help immensely. If you use makeup, make sure you clean it off before going to bed.

Acne creams

Using over the counter topical creams can help not only in reducing and preventing the spread of acne but also in maintaining an acne free skin. Clearpores, Clear Skin Max and Exposed Acne Treatment are some of the proven products which are very good in fighting bacteria and clearing acne. There are also plenty of natural remedies that can be very helpful in treating pimples. A blend of avocado, banana and half a tea spoon of Vitamin E cream is very much effective as a topical treatment for acne. The only disadvantage of herbal natural remedy is that it cannot be stored like that of an over the counter cream. The topical creams should be used with much care as most of them make our skin sensitive to sunlight and it is always advised to use a good sun block cream together with an acne control cream.

Leading a healthy and stress free life is the best way to avoid pimples. Find out the nature of your skin and take up preventive measures so as to avoid aggravating the condition. Many of the topical creams used for acne treatment which works effectively for one might not work for another. So it is always better to consult your dermatologist to find the perfect way to treat your acne.
