Envision purpose - Live A Great Life Podcast by Dr Prem – Chapter. 59

Here is a quote –  Visualize this thing that you want, see it, feel it, believe in it. Make your mental blueprint, and begin to build.

—Robert Collier

Following your life purpose requires a clear mindset. Whether you wish to reduce weight, run a marathon, top in your exams or land your dream job, envisioning your purpose enables you to develop a roadmap and business plan so that you reach your destination and that, too, pretty fast.

Keep your ego aside

Your ego can prevent you from properly visualizing your purpose; hence, you should refrain from making it a task, failing which the entire purpose of the exercise is defeated. Ego – many may argue – is a survival-based mechanism built to cover up fear that tries to control things.

Most talk about envisioning because they see it becoming in no time. Intuition comes when you build self-confidence in a way that you do not need to control things. In other words, you trust yourself to react best at the moment and do not rely on your ego. It is easy to talk about the power of visualizing when you have that confidence because you can really see it, but you cannot forget how you will get there. Learning how to envision properly is more about working on your own self and letting go of what prevents this natural ability of yours.

Make visual representations of the tasks

At times, our task list becomes overwhelming enough to instill panic. Most of us prefer to step back and view tasks that we are supposed to do in the coming week or month.

‘Zooming out’ and understanding how your task list fits into your overall schedule can be tricky at times; however, visual representations can help you with that. You have an array of methods that enable you to envision what you are up against; all it needs is a little experimenting and innovative approach on your part.

Make reminders and stick them on the wall

Simple yet effective, this method comes handy if you get easily distracted. Using readily accessible butcher papers and markers is one of the most convenient yet highly effective methods of envisioning your tasks. Colorful markers give the paper a bit of character and make it more visually appealing.

You can easily attach sheets of paper to the wall with an adhesive and keep your task list in front of you. A calendar is ideal for marking tasks that come with hard deadlines. The big, flat desk calendars are great if you have enough room to keep them visible all the time. Post-It notes or a whiteboard are other options.
