Cat allergies may be a huge turn off for cat lovers. The symptoms of the allergy may include wheezing, nasal congestion, coughing, itchiness, watery eyes and many more. Being a cat lover, the only concern is to get away with the allergies, which could be done the following way.

Immunotherapy

The best way to undo the allergies caused by cats is to get immune to it. That doesn’t mean lying by it or being with it 24/7. There are few medical treatments to increase your immunity when it comes to tolerating allergens developed due to cats. There are different medications in the form of eye drops, nasal sprays, allergy shots and pills. These immunity shots are considered to be the most effective ones when compared to any other methods adopted for dealing with cat allergens. Building up immunity is often the best way to overcome any type of disease or allergy and the same applies for cat allergies. To diagnose these cat allergies, it is best for you to consult your physician or a vet.

Reduction of areas trapping allergens

Accumulation of cat products is one big fat reason for developing cat allergies. What you need to do is transform areas where the cat debris tends to build up into those where you can find the debris in very negligible amount. Usually carpets attract a lot of cat shed. You can take off the carpet and replace it with a hard wood floor. When it is a pet you usually do not restrict it from certain places. The couch for example, can’t be an off zone to the cats. In such cases it is best to have sofas which are easy for you to clean up. This would reduce the accretion of cat sheds and would not allow the growth of allergens indirectly keeping you away from the symptoms of the allergy.

Get away with pet product allergies

Humans, most of the times are not allergic to cats but their products like hair, their sebum, their saliva and other such things. When such is the case, the viable advice is to pull off all these triggers from your surroundings. If you have a carpet, you could use someone else’s help to clean it. While vacuuming your house, you can use a HEPA filter so that you do not have to suffer from allergies. Not to forget, if the allergy is due to the cat produces, it also means that you are allergic to things in your surroundings like dust, pollens, flowers, etc. because these trigger your allergies caused by cats. It is for your good when it is said that you should keep yourself at a distance from such allergy boosts.

Neutering your cat

Cats produce a lot of sebum to keep their skin and hair from drying out. A lot of people are allergic to this sebum. For getting over this, you can neuter your cat. It is found that neutered cats produce less amount of sebum when compared to that of normal cats. This is usually a characteristic found in most of the male cats. Neutering of cats is to be done only by a vet. The process involves removal of the reproductive organ in the cat completely or a large part of the same. It cannot be done at home and please, do not even think about it. You might be prosecuted if you are involved in such actions.

Stay away from cats

Have you tried every possible way to get off the allergies caused by cats? Doesn’t any of it seem to work? What else can you do? It’s pretty simple folks; do not own your cat. Give it to a person who can take care of it better than you can. Cats are living beings too and they need care as well. So instead of abandoning them at home and spoiling your health too, you can do away with it. There is no sense keeping a cat when you cannot stand it a bit. It is not commendable for you to abandon it on the roads. You can either give it to a cat shelter or to someone you know who will surely take good care of it.
