How to deal with telemarketers

People find it quite annoying when telemarketers make voice calls to promote their products, services or special offers. Unfortunately, most people receive such calls during momentous times like during a meeting, while making presentations, when driving, etc. You can easily deal with telemarketers if you learn how to handle them.

Know the problem

First of all, remember that telemarketers are human beings just like you. They too have feelings, likes and dislikes. The truth is that the Telemarketing companies are disturbing you through their employees. There is no point in getting angry with someone who is not directly related and responsible for your troubles. Don’t get angry on them if they make voice calls to you at unfavorable times. Feeling angry not only hurts the caller, but also create worries to the receiver as well. Understand that the speaker on the other side of the phone is totally unaware about your current situation. Then, how can you expect them to know whether it’s the right time to call you or not. To interpret this problem very well, imagine yourselves as a telemarketer and find what you will do, if you are given a task to make at least 100 calls in a single day.

Be polite

If you have imagined yourselves as a telemarketer, you could have understood the critical problems in being them. When a telemarketer calls you, let them introduce themselves and finish their initial words. If you are in the middle of an important work, just tell them that you have an urgent work then, and inform them to call you back, later. If you have sufficient time, don’t overact as if you are too busy to speak to them. Once the telemarketer introduces himself/herself, he/she would ask you some questions. If you are really interested in their matter, answer their queries; else, let them know that you are not interested in their products, in a polite manner. Most telemarketers will end their conversation at this point. Answering the telemarketing calls in a courteous way is one of the best ways to handle them smoothly.

Let them know about your disinterests

Most consumers misinterpret that if they tell the telemarketer about their disinterests, it might hurt them badly. This is not true. In fact, the telemarketer will be happy to know that you are disinterested in their products; because when you respond their calls, the telemarketers will feel as if they had given a warm welcome. Only the Telemarketing companies will bear the loss for making business inquiries with you. However, some Telemarketing companies will assign high targets for the telemarketers to sell their products. Under stressful situations, telemarketers might trouble you again and again if you don’t clearly express your disinterests. Mention them that you will not be interested in their products or services in the future as well. Make bold statements, but in a polite manner.

Disconnect the call

Some telemarketers might call you repeatedly without understanding that you are disinterested. Speak to them in a courteous manner during their first and the second calls. If they still trouble you, attend the call and disconnect it with just a sorry. Most telemarketers will stop their unprofessional activities at this stage. Such kind of telemarketers are rarely present in the world. However, you must know how to deal with all kinds of telemarketers. Your life should be the focus of your attention. Never allow such disturbances and distractions to ruin you life. Be bold to face them. One day, you will master your skills in dealing with telemarketers and strangers over the phone.

Register with ‘Do Not Call’ list

As per law, Telemarketing companies should register themselves with the government. Consumers can also register their telephone numbers in the ‘Do Not Call’ list with the government. Contact your service provider to know the formal procedure in making this request. Once, your number is included in the ‘Do Not Call’ list, you will never be contacted by the telemarketers. However, know the complete terms and agreement before you make such requests. Your service provider might have sufficient information about them. Never harass or threaten the telemarketers, as it may cause you serious troubles. If they violate the laws, report it to the corresponding officials. Accept that telemarketers are just doing their duty and handle them courteously.
