14 Outdated home decor trends no one wants to see in 2019

There are a few outdated home decor trends which must go out in 2019. Many of the experts have stated their consensus regarding the top most trends this year and also those which seriously need to die.

The most outdated home decor trends which no one wants to see 2019:

  1. Cemented tiles: From doldrums of laundry rooms to mudroom floors to backsplashes, cement tiles were regarded supreme everywhere. But now no one wants to see these cement tiles in 2019. Though their looks are great but their longevity is questionable. And the next thing is the craziness of patterns. 3-D, too bright, too bold and too graphic are often seen. If you completely can’t say no to this, at least go for a great craft design in some appropriate colour or pattern that you would like for the following years to come.
  2. Tropical prints: Last year was the year of philodendron leaf, flamingo and pine apple. This exotic and whimsical trend was loved earlier but everyone is tired of it now. Though they add music to the chic bohemian decors, but the loud patterns appeal to the eyes for just one season. Unless you reside in the tropical climate, they really appear to be out of place even after the summers have passed.
  3. Cacti everywhere: The previous year has a moment for cactus. These spiky succulents were grown like weeds at the corner of living rooms, on wallpapers or any artwork. But these days such prints are completely overdone. So leave all these prickly plants in your backyard only.
  4. Chevron pattern: Chevron basically is a zig- zag pattern incorporating mainly two colours and is inescapable for a few seasons now. But everyone is tired of it this season. If you do not want to completely fade off these prints, try to include some ornate versions and patterns. Don’t just let it be overdone.
  5. Overstated hood fan: It was one of the prominent features of open kitchens but now they have been officially declared as some great interior designing mistakes. Designers have predicted it to soon turn into a cabinetry commodity. Hood fans were actually never pleasing. They were just utilitarian. But now HGTVs have made the buyers crazy for them as they are now the most visual centrepieces of modern day kitchen. 2019 is predicted to have streamlined, sleek kitchen design.
  6. Farmhouse style: The farmhouse style is now among some great interior designing mistakes. Farmhouse style is now an outdated home decor trend. Earlier it was an okay concept but the execution was not up to the mark. Today the decor lovers are covering the entire house using the items which are exactly out of the barn.
  7. White over white: The crisp of white bedding was known to be a beautiful idea earlier. But in this real world where we live with pets, kids and an errant wine glass are quite threatening to all your new stuff. Though white had dominated the decor look for long, but now the trend is changing. People are embracing the shades of green, black and brown. For a sophisticated yet seductive space, put a black signature wall in your home. If you are dawn for earthy tones, rust brown and forest greens are mandatory.
  8. Tuscan theme: Tuscan is loved by almost all. The trend started back in 2005-06 and has continued for longer than what it was expected. With 2018 outdated home decor trends, a lot of golds and deep reds, oversized furniture, travertine tile and oil- rubbed bronze are growing in fashion. It gives your room an overall ornate and heavy look.
  9. Rose gold: Shades of rose gold have left the market now. It was earlier everywhere from your iPhone to your living room but is no more a special thing now.
  10. Open floor plan: It is a one to one tough call. Designers are conflicted whether open flooring plans will persist in the upcoming year or not. Some designers are of the opinion that people will continue to carve for open spaces for facilitating social entertainment and gathering. But some say that it is a thing of past.
  11. Millennial pink shades: Millennial pink and other similar dynamic hues are now the outdated home decor trends. Look for some moody and muted yellow shades like lilac as they are the spotlight in 2019. Broaching options such as pale grey blues or seafoam green and ice cream pastel trend are the popular alternatives to millennial pink. Try to incorporate a fashionable colour palette in your home decor.
  12. Fig with fiddle leaf: Green plants were beloved at every corner earlier but now it’s time to move on to some plants of different colours. Pampas grass is a silvery hued pale plant which is a convincing case to denature your greenery with some subdued and cooler option. Couple it up with some branches or group up a bunch together in a vase. This is an instant way of dressing up the empty corner of the room.
  13. Entryway benches: This trend is particularly for the dwellers with small spaces who mere have an existence of entryway and is like a pipe dream for them. But those who actually have a hallway must consider stadium seating as a cool alternative to the boring entry benches. Stadium seating gives a retro look and makes your space much more interesting.
  14. Accent walls: We are past the year of accent walls. Now is the year of statement making light fixtures! Make your decor more appealing using a statement making light fixture, be it a hanging light or pendant which could double the look of the art. You need not to have high ceilings for it. Try out with a funky sconce or with a table lamp in case you have a small home or you live in a rental house, as it will prevent you from making any drastic change to your interiors.
