Eco Factor: Electric and solar powered bus allows cars to drive underneath.
Here is a plan that might sound a little crazy, but makes sense when thought with respect to urban transportation. Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co., Ltd, has proposed an ingenious way to speed up the traffic that leave you restlessly waiting for the long queues of vehicles to move. The company suggested building gigantic buses that utilize the space between regular-size cars and bridges, while allowing cars to drive underneath.
The bus will not only save upon the construction cost, but will also minimize congestion impact. Looking like a subway or light-rail train, 6 feet wide and 4-4.5 meters high bus is powered by electricity and solar energy. It can reach a speed of up to 60 km/h and can carry 1200-1400 passengers. This innovative bus was exhibited in the 13th Beijing International High-tech Expo in May this year. The first bus running over 186km track will seen offering a green ride at Beijing’s Mentougou District.
