“If you do not have a competitive advantage, don’t compete” is a quote by Jack Welch. One needs to look at it closely and analyse it deeply. Are you one of the people who believe there is a lot of competition? Do you often give up because you think you cannot stand the competition? Well, the competition isn’t outside but within you. It is you who are the competition. Don’t take part in the competition but become the competition and you will see the change. This will mean a change in your perspective and your way of doing things. If you are the competition then you have to work by the standards of the competition. This means it has to be better than the others. Yet, it doesn’t imply you have to poke your nose into what others are doing and step behind because of the competition. In fact, you have to set standards in such manner that the others are awed by you and try to better themselves in view of what you have done. Thus, don’t compete but become the competition and you will see a drastic change in yourself and your life. You will soon see a different side of things. One which you hadn’t known before…
Stick it Out and Do your Best
Thus, don’t fret over the competition but create a situation where the competition is actually advantageous to you. It isn’t easy to create such an advantage but again who said being the competition was easy anyway? You need to work a wee bit harder and you will soon have the benefits of the competition. In no time, you will in fact begin to enjoy the competition. No, don’t fool yourself when doing this. Be as real as you can. Create a real situation. Think on it. Think on where you are lacking and what is making you nervous. Work on those things. Improvise yourself. Don’t look at the competition, that’s not something you ought to be bothered about. Worry about yourself and you will soon set everyone worrying about you as well. If you are to step into a competition, step as the competition. Settle for nothing less. Don’t look left, don’t look right, look straight and walk ahead. No matter if you win or you lose, you are going to be satisfied with the fact that you tried your best. You will learn from the experience and this is going to be your real advantage. So, go stick your head out there and make sure that you do it best.
Organise and Create your Path to Success
First, after you have worked out on your strengths and weaknesses, create for yourself a way in which you come ahead of the competitive edge. Your personality ought to send across a positive message with positive vibes. You don’t need to look all nervous and fretting. Smile and walk with your head held high. Promote your own brand without advertising it. Don’t fake it by convincing yourself that it is happening. In fact, walk in such manner that no convincing at all is required to you or to anyone else. Let everyone know that the real competition has just entered the market. Like it has been said before, this is a little difficult but some bit of hard work can get you in there. No one achieved success easily and you are going to have to grind your way through as well. Let your performance speak for itself. No amount of words or self praise will get you where the competition will. Hence, work it out and work hard on it. Organise yourself as well as your way towards the top and you will soon so how easy it is to walk up there. The only difficulty is to wrap your head around it and hit the right notes. Once you have done this successfully, there is no stopping you.
You will soon be the centre of attraction and appreciation of all and sundry. Learn to receive this with grace as well. Do not forget that you are the competition and you have to keep your standards high. Don’t get complacent because of all the praises that are being showered on you. You will always have a task at hand once you have succeeded in becoming the competition. You just don’t have to become the competition but you also have to remain the competition. Thus, do not undermine the others while you are busy grooming yourself. Everyone is trying to be their best and so are you. The only difference is you have to be the reason why everyone else is gearing up for the competition. You have made a brand out of yourself successfully and it is now your responsibility to maintain this brand and its image. Thus, develop an attitude of gratefulness towards one and all, even if you are way above them. You have groomed yourself for a competitive advantage and not for an egoistic attitude.
