It is a beloved winter sport of many but most of them stick to the average and safe mountain slopes. Skiing down a narrow slope is full of risks that most skiers won’t dare to take. Some people ski just for fun and some choose it as a profession but only few have the skills and guts to ski for true adventure. Conquering a dangerous and scary ski slope is like a lifetime victory over your fears and at the end of the slope you will realize just how lucky you are to be alive. Daily life can take away our winning spirit and deprive us of the joy of freedom. When you ski down the beautiful yet risky mountain slopes you will get a taste of real freedom and learn to score a win over nature with just your training and skills. There are some ski slopes that can turn skiing into a highly adventurous sport. Following is a list of scary slopes for skiers who like tough challenges.

Corbet’s Courloir, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

This infamous ski slope is believed to be the scariest ski slope of the United States of America. Corbet’s Courloir is located at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming. Barry Corbet, who was a very popular local ski trainer, gave this slope its name. Barry’s adventure stories are still famous at this locale. He had climbed to the top of Mount Everest, the highest peak of the world. The Corbet’s Courloir is 10,450 foot high. It is challenging because of its double diamond shape. If you want to ski down this slope then be very cautious from the beginning. The beginning is a challenge in itself as you will have to jump off a cornice and cover a distance of 30 feet through air. Next there is a tricky 60 degree slope. Only expert skiers should undertake skiing on this slope.

La Grave, France

La Grave or ‘The Grave’ is one of this world’s scariest ski slopes. It is strewn with dangers and once you have reached the top of the 10,500 foot mountain and look down you will be fully aware of the challenge that you have undertaken. A 40 minute long cable car ride is the best way to reach the top. The expert skiers choose vertical drops of varying shapes and sizes. You can pick and choose the challenge as there are many. Many have died trying to conquer these highly dangerous ski slopes. You may even have to do some serious rock climbing to reach to the special skiing spots.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block; text-align:center;"
     data-ad-layout="in-article"
     data-ad-format="fluid"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-9477973674766713"
     data-ad-slot="8885944693"></ins>

Delirium Dive, Canada

This gorgeous yet very tough ski slope is located at the Sunshine Village, Banff, Canada. You must have serious guts to venture down this ski slope alone. Ski training schools organize Delirium Sundays to teach their students how to overcome the fear of this slope. Skiing on this slope can bring an avalanche at your trail.

Body Bag- Crested Butte, Colorado

At the very beginning, you will have to overcome a 275-foot vertical drop situated at a steep 55 degrees. Then comes the 700-foot steep pitch where there is a challenge waiting for you at every corner. Body Bag got its name from the high risk it poses to the skier’s life.

Hara-kiri, Austria

Hara-kiri ski slope is a groomed slope, which has the average 38 degrees pitch. Only extreme skiers should dare to undertake skiing on this slope. People gather here to cheer for the courageous skiing experts. Many lose their control and come down tumbling all the way from the top. There is an ancient Japanese ritual, performed by the Samurai soldiers, who chose to commit violent suicide instead of becoming prisoners to their opponents. This slope has got its name Hara-kiri from that ritual.

Black Hole, Smugglers’ Notch

This very risky ski slope is definitely not every skier’s cup of tea. The Black Hole ski slope located at the Smuggler’s Notch, VT has many natural hurdles. If you are a skier who likes to ski through trees then this is the perfect slope to challenge yourself. A 53 degree pitch combined with lots of pine trees makes this a risky and scary ski slope.

Grand Couloir, France

The Grand Couloir is one of the most eminent skiing slopes of the Alps mountain range. It is located at French Alps. It is very steep and narrow. Anyone daring to ski on this slope must have years of experience and lots of courage. The ridge is 200 meters long. There is another tough slope just beside this one. It is less known yet as challenging as the Grand Couloir. Its name is Emilie Allias Couloir. Do not venture down these slopes without proper training or equipments.

Recent Articles:

Skiing involves snowy white mountain slopes, adrenaline rush and danger.
