However, that is far from the truth though the job still is very rewarding and provides you with a wonderful experience of world cultures. Here are a few do\u2019s and don\u2019ts that would help you become a better travel nurse.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><b>Do:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>1. Embrace the challenge<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Joining a new team of caretakers in a foreign country or a different culture could be anxiety inducing. However, it could also be a rewarding experience if you pull your socks up and take the challenge up.<\/p>\n<p><b>2. Make an effort to learn names<\/b><\/p>\n<p>When you first join a new team, make an effort to introduce yourself to everyone and remember everyone\u2019s names as well.<\/p>\n<p><b>3. Lend a hand<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Being a team player and asking others if they need a hand with the patient or taking care of something else would help you fit in with the team. Just remember not to act like you know better than them.<\/p>\n<p><b>4. Be meticulous<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A traveling nurse is often the sole outsider in a household or staff. It becomes important to remember that you would be the fall guy should something go wrong. Be too shy<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Even if you aren\u2019t too comfortable working with people you don\u2019t know, you have to be the person who needs to ask questions and initiate conversation with others on the team.<\/p>\n<p><b>2. Try to act too smart<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Even if you have a lot of experience, when you join a new team, you\u2019re a newcomer and a guest in someone\u2019s house. Don\u2019t make up your own rules. Instead, ask an authority figure to guide you about how things are done there.<\/p>\n<p><b>3. Work as a loner<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Working as a loner will only isolate you. Try befriending people. It could make light of the work and your stay there.<\/p>\n<p><b>4. Take things too personally<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Being a traveling nurse means that you have been brought in to take care of someone who is really ill. The pressure of the work situation can get stressful at times.
