It&#8217;s also a very easily accessible attraction that makes up a great day visit if you&#8217;re travelling in and around Lisbon, Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>Head out in the morning and grab a pastry from a local bakery in Lisbon and for only a few euros, catch a train ride to Sintra, 45 minutes north-west of Lisbon by train.&nbsp; As you arrive in Sintra, exit the train station and head to the tourist office next door where they will provide you with free maps, transportation information, and pamphlets containing details on where to go and what to see.&nbsp;<\/p><div class=\"3a64bb57635b757d04b12bcf0c14b9a3\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; This is the oldest palace built under the inspiration of European Romanticism, and is an edifice to behold on its own &#8211; in fact, it can be seen all the way from Lisbon.&nbsp; It&#8217;s also one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tripatlas.com\/new\/images\/articles\/sintraview.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Photo provided by James Lau\" title=\"Photo provided by James Lau\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"2\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"right\" \/><\/strong>After exploring the Palace (make sure to walk around the walls at the top to enjoy the gorgeous view), take a short 15-minute trek over to one of the oldest castles in Portugal: <strong>Castle of the Moors<\/strong> (or Castela dos Mouros). &nbsp;Pack a small picnic to enjoy as you take a break from climbing the hills and steps on your ascent to the top of the castle walls.&nbsp; The reward for your climb is a stunning view overlooking western Portugal and the other sites of Sintra.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Sintra National Palace <\/strong>and<strong> Regaleira Palace<\/strong> also warrant visits for exquisite examples of beautiful architecture and enchanting gardens.&nbsp;
