Established in 2002, the park covers a total area of 2,034 square kilometers. It is three-hour ride from the capital city, Libreville. UNESCO has listed the park as the World Heritage Tentative list on October 20, 2005 for its cultural and natural importance.<\/p>\n<p>The main aim behind creating the park was to protect and conserve the natural habitat from the external threats like hunting and pouching. The park has rich biodiversity and is suitable for campaigning. The Bateke Plateau National Park features series of plateaus, hills, valleys, tropical forest, and wetlands and offers many pictorial landscapes.
