Eat problems for breakfast - Live A Great Life Podcast by Dr Prem – Chapter. 70

Here is a quote –  After every storm the sun will smile; for every problem there is a solution, and the soul’s indefeasible duty is to be of good cheer.

—William Rounseville Alger

Be it the smaller problems or the bigger ones, most of the time, the solution might be just around the corner. What you simply need to do is look around and identify it. Unfortunately, this is something we rarely do. All you need to do is look within you; the solutions to most of the problems are already there. Don’t shrink away from the problems. Tackle them first thing in the morning. Your soul and conscience will cheer you up by suggesting solutions that were always there, staring at you, but you never seriously sought them.

Whatever the problem, one will find solutions always in a pattern. Here, I am decoding the pattern to make things simpler for you.

Understand your problem first

Starting their day on the wrong foot, it’s obvious for anyone to reach a wrong destination. We often do the exact opposite of what we should do in running after the answers without stopping to define the problems. We must plan the desired destination before we determine what we need to get there. Unless we are sure about what we are trying to accomplish, we will keep running in all directions save the one that leads us to our goal. Therefore, make time to get in touch with what you need the most at the moment. Identify the problem before it spirals out of control.

Evaluate both short- and long-term impacts of a problem

Only when a smoker feels the severe implications of smoking on his health will he take steps to quit this habit. From poor breath to a weaker immune system and premature aging to various sorts of cancers, the realization of the impact of smoking is essential for any smoker who wants to make it a thing of past. Hence, one should evaluate both short- and long-term impacts of the issue under consideration if he wants to solve the problem.

Accept the problem

Accepting the problem is often the hardest first step for anyone. Instead of acknowledging the issue, we usually deny it, which indirectly aggravates the situation. Some of us would argue or even blame others for the situation they are in, instead of trying to minimize the impact by accepting the truth. They won’t solve it this way for sure.

Identify the pattern and move step by step

You never tried to find the pattern that solutions are in; instead, you allowed your problems and mundane issues to take their toll on your intellect and thinking prowess, which eventually led you to a state of dilemma. Rather than trying to deal with the entire problem in one shot, focus on a small portion of the issue at a time. Be logical in your approach to comprehend the fact that planned action would eventually solve the problem.

Gather emotional, mental and physical support

Agreed that all of us have enough potential to do things on our own, nonetheless, when it comes to squeezing more value out of our efforts, we can find emotional, mental and physical support from friends, family, and colleagues who want to see us out of the woods. Study good literature, listen to motivational speakers, meditate, exercise, and do a lot of hard work to garner the required support.

Avoid staying aloof when in problem

As I have already discussed, you cannot afford to ostracize yourself. When you don’t communicate your concerns with others, you make yourself a victim of depression and become unproductive. Such demeanor on your part will only increase your agony; instead, seek support from all quarters to resolve your issues.

Celebrate your progress and achievements

Instead of giving up, we should remain progressive in our approach and celebrate all our achievements. Such celebrations will lift our spirits and prepare us to face all problems with confidence.

While we should try our level best to face and overcome the challenges that life throws at us, we should develop the wisdom to differentiate between what is good for us and what is not.
