It was hard to hear your own voice as the epidemic in the city has scared everyone. The doctors were working without a break. They knew that a little help could save another life. An old man who had a heart attack last evening was lying flat in his bed with nurse standing right beside him. He was going out of breath and was in a terrible condition. The nurse had already given a call to his son who said he was on his way to the hospital. <\/p>\n

The moment nurse looked at the fine looking young boy who looked lost she knew it was that old man\u2019s son. She waved her hand and called him inside the ward where there was almost no space to accommodate any more patients. The nurse had to rush to the other ward as they had some emergency there. She took the hand of the old man and told him, \u201cLook, your son is here. Don\u2019t worry you are going to be all right.\u201d<\/p>

The young boy did not say anything as he already had the old man\u2019s hand in his own hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake care of him and do not let him move. I will come back in a few minutes. Don\u2019t worry your father will be all right,\u201d the nurse aid as she left the ward.<\/p>\n

The young boy helped himself with a chair that was lying in a corner. He literally pulled the chair, as the old man would not let go off his hand.<\/p>\n

The nurse came an hour later as the staff of the hospital was busy taking care of the patients of the epidemic. She saw that the young boy was still sitting in the same position and had tears in his eyes. The old man was unconscious but he would not let go off the young boy\u2019s hand.<\/p>\n

The nurse looked at the boy and said, \u201cYou must go and eat something, I am here to take care of him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The young boy nodded his head but did not move a bit.<\/p>

The nurse left the ward after checking other patients. She had not gone back home for last two month as she had to work in regular shifts. She came at around 11 o\u2019clock at night and told the young boy, \u201cYou must eat something and take some rest. Your dad is going to be all right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The boy did not say anything as if he had nothing to say. He looked tired but did not move an inch all day long.<\/p>\n

The nurse came in the morning and found the young boy sitting right there. He looked at the nurse and informed her, \u201cHe is dead.\u201d He had tears in his eyes.<\/p>\n

The nurse checked whether the old man was breathing or not. She took a big sigh and said, \u201cI am sorry. Your father was a brave man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was not my father,\u201d the young boy said in a mild tone.<\/p>\n

The nurse got surprised and said, \u201cWhy didn\u2019t you say so when I told you about him yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI came here looking for Mr. Clark. His son died in an accident when he was on his way to the hospital. I wanted to give him the news,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The nurse could not control her emotions. She nodded her head and said, \u201cHe was Mr. Clark. Why didn\u2019t you tell me earlier when I had asked you to take care of him?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe needed a son at that moment,\u201d the young boy relied.<\/p>\n

Life is like that. Sometimes you do not need a reason to love, help or support someone. If what you do for other gives you inner peace you must not think twice.<\/p>\n
