As we grow up we have many role models before us. Our parents, our teachers, famous personalities all inspire us and we try and inculcate the values that they stand for in life. A strong value system is necessary for us to evolve into good human beings. However every person\u2019s life is different. The situations and incidents that individually we face in our lives differ from others around us on a daily basis. The problems that we face, the opportunities that we are given and the choices that we have to make differ all from other individuals around us.<\/p>\n

We are our own Role Models<\/b><\/p>\n

After a certain age we make all the decisions in our life. By that time we are young adults and the influences of the above mentioned role models have already taken place. Our value system is in place and the role of the role models around us has diminished. At this stage of our lives we become our own role models as the decisions that are taken in our life depends on what we think is right. The influence on how we live our life is more of what we think is right and not so much of what our role models advice or what they might do in a given situation.<\/p>\n

When we say that we become our own role model a key aspect here is our experiences in our lives. Nothing teaches us more or inspires us to do the right thing and avoid mistakes in life like our experiences. A negative experience helps us to avoid the same mistakes in our lives and the positive experiences make us believe that we are on the right path. Ultimately most of us only listen to ourselves and what we ourselves think is right. In that way it is very true to believe that the best role model for you is you.<\/p>\n

A role model gives inspiration. You yourself have certain dreams about what you want in life. Those dreams that you build ultimately become the inspirations in your life to follow the paths to achieve those dreams. By having role models that have achieved greatness and success in life one cannot simple ape them or follow their path to success. At the end of the day you must carve your own path to achieve your dreams and be successful in life.<\/p>\n

Secondary Role Models<\/b><\/p>\n

Being your own role model however does not mean not having role models. You must listen to valuable advice that you get from people that have lead inspiring lives and have a vast experience. Being all knowing and not taking advice is simply being foolish. That is not what being your own role model means. You have to be your own role model but also have secondary role models and take advice and be inspired by other people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

Ultimately however one must have other role models but also remember that the best role model in life for you is you.<\/p>\n
