However, the number of these rare mammals in the world is unknown.<\/p>\n<p>The animals were born to six males and females and later reared and taken care of by the <strong>Cikananga Animal Rescue Center <\/strong>in West Java. They have been trained in such a way that now they can survive in their natural habitat, where they will face <strong>predators<\/strong> such as giant pythons and local <strong>poachers<\/strong> who eat their meat or sell their hides.<\/p>\n<p>The species has been declared vulnerable and endangered by the <strong>World Conservation Union,<\/strong> meaning they face a high risk of extinction.<\/p><div class=\"38520354a5201685ddf480eec688e1a7\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9477973674766713\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"8885944693\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Though not much is known about the Indonesian kangaroos, called as dusky pademelons, or <strong>Thylogale brunii<\/strong> in Indonesia. The animal belongs to a family of seven kangaroo-like mammals and is generally found in forests in the southeastern coast of <strong>Papua<\/strong>, split between Indonesia&#8217;s West Papua and Papua New Guinea.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>illegal trade<\/strong> in such a rare and exotic species is rampant in Papua and other areas of Indonesia, due largely to <strong>poor law enforcement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia has for long been known for <strong>rapid deforestation<\/strong>, which is a big threat to species such as the Sumatran tiger, elephant, rhino and orangutan.<\/p>\n<p>Such a rare species needs to be reared and conserved.<\/p>\n<p>Image Credit<\/p>\n<p>Via: La Crosse Tribune    \t<\/p>\n<div class=\"38520354a5201685ddf480eec688e1a7\" data-index=\"3\" style=\"float: none;
