Environmentalist in the Pacific state of <strong>Tuvalu<\/strong> have issued a stark warning to Britain that the island is on the verge of submergence if uncontrolled emissions continue to rule the roost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Iftikhar Ayaz<\/strong>, amateur diplomat for Tuvalu in London, is battling to raise awareness of the <strong>devastating effect<\/strong> that global warming fused climate change is having on smaller, less developed nations. Crying out for help, he said it is right time to act otherwise his home islands would be submerged under water by <strong>2040<\/strong>.<\/p><div class=\"38520354a5201685ddf480eec688e1a7\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9477973674766713\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"8885944693\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Tuvalu comprises of <strong>nine low-lying coral atolls<\/strong>, less than 4m above sea level. To the horror of the 10,000 inhabitants the islands have been submerging at a rate of about 2.3cm a year.<\/p>\n<p>There were talks of resettling the Tuvalu inhabitants to neighboring Australia and New Zealand, but neither the <strong>stringent immigrant laws<\/strong> nor the will of the people made it possible.
