In coming years we will be driving on air- fueled battery. Isn\u2019t this surprising? The new STAIR (St. Andres Air) battery will provide 10 times more energy than the conventional batteries. Surprisingly, in the coming few years\u2019 electric cars, computers, and cell phone batteries will be equipped with the newly designed technology that will live longer without charging.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nResearch is being conducted at Scotland\u2019s University of St. Andrews with associates at Strathclyde and Newcastle. The four-year research project, \u201cAn O2 Electrode for a Rechargeable Lithium Battery\u201d was started on 1 July 2007 and is expected to end on 30 June 2011. It has received funds from EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council of Great Britain) of about $2.4 million.<\/p><div class=\"38520354a5201685ddf480eec688e1a7\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9477973674766713\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"8885944693\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>The lithium cobalt oxide electrode will be replaced with a porous carbon electrode in the fuel cell. This will allow the lithium ions and electrons to react in the cell and uses oxygen drawn from the surface of the battery.
