Javier has invented a complete algae energy system named Versatile. The main aim of his innovation, which has fetched him Ashoka\u2019s Invent World Challenge award, is to meet the basic needs of the world\u2019s poor.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cleantechnica.com\/2009\/06\/09\/15-year-old-invents-complete-algae-energy-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">system<\/a> comprises 12 technologies in six subsystems, which has the potential to treat waste, produce methane and bio-fuel, and is a source of livestock and human food production. In addition to this, it also generates oxygen, restores greenhouse gases and can be very beneficial to save the environment. He is developing other family-sized system that can be fit in small houses and will cost around $300.<\/p>\n<p>Javier is not the only one leading the New Age green geeks\u2019 revolution. The cost required to convert the vehicle was $6,000, but the best part was, he has not borrowed the money from anyone but has saved from his part-time job as a lifeguard. According to Andrew, the truck can reach a speed of 55 mph and can go up to 40 miles without a charge.
