While it exploits solar power for 90% of its energy requirements, the remaining 10% comes from domestic cooking gas. Moreover, the futuristic-looking refuge will rely on the melting Gorner, Grenz and Mount Rose glaciers for water. Subsequently, the total carbon emissions from the shed will be three times lower than those of the others in the vicinity. It is spacious enough to accommodate 120 mountaineers.
