And why not, the little bundle of joy not only completes your family but also adds excitement and oodles of love to your otherwise mundane life.

Bringing up a baby and seeing her accomplish the many milestones such as her first walk, first words gives immense pleasure to any parent. However, unlike old times, having a baby today is a well planned step. A child is a commitment and requires a lot of time, patience (and money). And this concern just multiplies when it’s time to plan a second child. We help you ease out the process by presenting the pros and cons of having a second child. Read on and evaluate your decision.

Yes

1. Makes the first kid responsible

Planning a second kid will bring a lot of good to your first kid. Having a younger sibling makes your otherwise naughty and demanding kid feel more responsible for the little one. Not only that, having a sibling will also provide him the much needed company that he always craved for.

2. You have your own time and space

The presence of another baby will give you first kid a companion. And so he will bother you less and would want to spend time with the younger brother or sister. This means that you will have more time for yourself and so you can get back to an old hobby or catching up friends, something that you had been missing after your first child.

3. Your kid understands the family value

It is more often observed that when there are two or more kids, they understand the importance of sharing and caring. And it especially has a good impact on your elder child as he not only feels responsible for his action but for his younger one too. He is also able to feel the importance of love and gets more attached to his family.

4. Kids make the parents bond better

You and your partner together decide to start a family and expand it. And in this process, you develop more trust and faith in your partner, which helps your relationship. You understand the importance of providing best value to your kids. In order to do so, you tend to handle situations in the best possible way, instead of rebuffing the other partner.

5. The two kids become like a team

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block; text-align:center;"
     data-ad-layout="in-article"
     data-ad-format="fluid"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-9477973674766713"
     data-ad-slot="8885944693"></ins>

It is not possible for you to be around your kids all the time. Having a second child gives a partner to your first child, helping them both to never feel lonely. Irrespective of your presence, they both are always there for each other for moral support. Their love even helps strengthen the family.

6. Your stop becoming more possessive

Every mother confesses of being possessive for her first child. This possessiveness comes in the way of radical thinking and often forces you to do things that you otherwise would not have done. Like interfering in your child’s decision, doubting others and much more. However, having two kids help you to spread your love outside the first kid, resulting in unstraining your relationship with everyone and not letting your kid feel choked by your continuous monitoring.

No

1. If your financial condition would bear the brunt

When you plan a baby, you have to ensure that you have enough resources to bring him up in the best possible manner. So first make sure that having a second child won’t come in the way of providing the best for the first child in terms of education, training and more. Ask yourself if you will be able to provide the same level of luxuries if the second child comes? Scrap the idea if your answer is No.

2. If you are not sure about your own relationship

If you are facing issues in your marriage and are unsure of creating a safe and healthy environment for your baby, never plan the second child. You cannot do much about the first baby, except for ensuring his well-being but do not take the risk for another child. It will further complicate matters for you.

3. If your first baby was born with a disability

If you first baby is born with a disability, let your plan for the second baby rest. It could take away the attention required by your first kid and will divide the love for the two.

4. If you are happy with a single child

Having a single child makes things easy. You can ensure the best education, good environment and also pamper him with whatever he likes, since the financial pressure is not much. You can live life to the fullest in terms of luxuries, holidays and much more. In addition, it becomes easy to support your kid in every possible way as you have all the time for ‘only’ him!

Recent Articles:

Becoming a parent is described as the best feeling in the world.
