These little cherubs are a bountiful of energy and they are always ready to check the extent of their physical endurance and your patience levels. Sometimes parents and teachers adopt spanking as a mode of improvising kid’s behavior. But researchers and behavioral psychologists have a different say regarding the matter. A number of national governments have taken initiative in banning physical manhandling of children, foreseeing it as a violation of their moral rights. If one forgets about the legal definitions, even then spanking a child to improvise his personality or behavior in a certain case, may prove otherwise in the long term. There are so many loud reasons that why one should never spank a child even if he is wrong or deserve a rectification.

1. Weak parent-child bonding

Spanking a child for his benefits is nothing more than a self created illusion. Trying to make him learn what is right by wrong means never fulfills the desired cause. On the contrary, it will only weaken the parent-child bonding. The kid tends to trust his parents more than anyone else. Spanking him often, might generate a feeling of distrust and may result in disrupted parent-child bonding.

2. Low self esteem

Experiencing bad feed-backs results in development of a child with low self esteem. He always hesitates in public appearances and becomes an easy prey to the anti-social elements. Sometimes the kid is so depressed that he even does not stand for his own good or raise voice against the wrong doers. Bullying is a common problem a child has to face in educational institution. A low self esteemed child may not be able tackle the situation effectively and the results could really be bad.

3. Feeling of detachment

Harsh Punishments do no good but only create a feeling of detachment. It is human to feel negative about the one who hurts us. A kid’s heart is really innocent and what once gets stored in his conscience, is hard to erase. An angry and violent parent impression may create a feeling of detachment in the young minds.

4. Rising rebel

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block; text-align:center;"
     data-ad-layout="in-article"
     data-ad-format="fluid"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-9477973674766713"
     data-ad-slot="8885944693"></ins>

When a children’s voice is not heard or if repressed, it tends to accumulate inside and a rebel starts developing within him. Unexpressed negative feelings give rise to in-comprehensive behavior in children. They find no better way to direct their anger than violence.

5. Marred personality

Severe punishment in childhood creates an adult with personality disorders. The whole persona and life get affected. It is very much evident, most of the criminals or disturbed personalities carry a history of troubled childhood. Beating up a child and that too if done in presence of his peers, adversely affects his psychological development. Sometimes it improvises with the passage of time but if the punishment is too harsh, the signs of the spanking remains evident in his whole personality.

6. Reciprocated behavior

Sometimes the children learn to behave in reciprocation. Parent’s mighty strength may overshadow kid’s little being but the wrong lesson has been imbibed by the tiny tot within a fraction of second. He may show aggression and violence against his younger mates.

7. Irrational sexual behavior

Hitting a child on buttocks or erogenous zone may result in the development of an adult with irrational sexual behavior. One tends to correlate pain with pleasure. This is one of the dire consequences of sexually spanking a child. He might develop irrational sexual behavior in his adulthood.

8. Troubled teenagers

There is a whole new generation of troubled teenagers. But the anger, aggression and violent behavior lead them nowhere. The rising drug addiction and behavioral problems in teenage is nothing but a consequence of troubled childhood.

9. Finding world a troubled place

Grown with a feeling of fear, distrust and aggression, children tend to develop a pessimistic notion about the whole world around them. They feel as if they are here for no good and don’t believe in the goodness of this god’s creation.

10. Inappropriate parent modelling

Children learn from parents. They tend to repeat the actions and the dialects of their parents. This is known as parent modelling. So, when a parent behaves in an aggressive way, somewhere he is unknowingly instilling this harsh behavior in his child’s mind. Always remember children would imbibe anything they see or observe. So, the best way to rectify them is to behave appropriately.

Recent Articles:

Dealing with children is a task that covets extra patience and tactics.
